Paul "Biffa" Vacher, age 15, student from South Shields. A much loved son, brother, cousin, nephew and friend. A well known, humourous and popular boy who could brighten even the darkest day, he left his mark with everyone he met and knew and had a heart of gold. Sadly his life was stolen in March 2001 when riding his bike resulted in a collision with a vehicle, a tradgic accident. We love and miss you so much Paul, you and Grandad look after each other up there. R.I.P xxxxxxxx
"A PARTIALLY deaf youngster, riding a bike with no brakes, was killed when he rode into the path of a lorry which shouldn't have even been on the road, an inquest has heard.
Paul Vacher didn't realise the brakes on the borrowed bike weren't working until he found himself hurtling down a hill at 25mph, with the HGV heading straight towards him on the Coast Road, South Shields.
With the shouts of warning behind him going unheard, the 15-year-old tried in vain to stop the bike with his feet, but died instantly when the lorry hit him.
In the hours after the accident in March, police accident investigators found that the lorry, which was transporting soil to the Westoe reclamation site, had a catalogue of potentially lethal defects.
South Tyneside coroner Terence Carney was told at the hearing that the list included faulty brakes, steering, axle and wheels.
They resulted in a total of 14 notices of prohibition, five of which were effective immediately, and all of which are to amount to legal proceedings against Burns Haulage, of South Hylton, Sunderland.
The inquest at South Tyneside Coroner's Court, heard that Paul had taken the day off from school and he and his 18-year-old friend, Kevin Russell, were heading for Marsden beach.
As they walked across Blackberry Hills, close to the Coast Road, they met another friend with a bike. Paul asked for a try on it, but because he didn't have his hearing aid in, he didn't hear warnings that the brake cable was disconnected.
A motorist following the lorry reported seeing Paul coming down the bank apparently "out of control", and seconds later, the youngster, of nearby Coquet Avenue, was dead.
Mr Carney told the inquest:"I am totally certain that when Paul rode down the hill he never intended causing himself or anyone else any harm - he was enjoying the thrill of going down the hill, feeling the pleasure of the speed at which he was travelling."
Verdict: accidental death."

You Were Taken Way To Soon,
We Miss Your Laugh & Smile,
I Would Do Anything To Have You Back,
I'd Walk A Million Miles.
You Always Held Your Head Up High,
A Proud, Handsome Young Man,
I Find It Hard To Look Back,
But With You In Mind, I Can.
Please Keep Watching Over Us,
And We Will Be Alright,
I Think Of You Everyday,
Morning, Noon & Night.
Love You Loads.. Goodnight Godbless..x
Sending you Angel hugs
Paul is lucky to have two such wonderful girls to make this tribute for him. I'm so sorry you had to lose such a wonderful brother and cousin. I do know that he will always watch over you and keep you safe, so if you hear a little whisper in your ear, that's only Angel Paul keeping you from harm. God bless you and your Angel
love Gail xx
Silent tear
Each night we shed a silent tear,
As we speak to you in prayer.
To let you know we love you,
And just how much we care.
Take our million teardrops,
Wrap them up in love,
Then ask the wind to carry them,
To you in heaven above.
Loving you forever Paul x Your cousin zars
You didn't know me but i went to school with your brother. I can remember the tragic day like it was yesterday. I'll never forget that you were a special young lad. Rest in Peace.
poem
I am wearing a pair of shoes.
They are ugly shoes.
Uncomfortable shoes.
I hate my shoes.
Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair.
Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.
Yet, I continue to wear them.
I get funny looks wearing these shoes.
They are looks of sympathy.
I can tell in other's eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not
theirs.
They never talk about my shoes.
To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.
But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.
I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes.
There are many pairs in this world.
Some women are like me and ache daily as they try to walk in them.
Some have learned how to walk in them so that they don't hurt quite so
much.
Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think
about how much they hurt.
No woman deserves to wear these shoes.
Yet, because of these shoes I am a stronger woman.
These shoes have given me the strength to face anything.
They have made me who I am.
I will forever walk in the shoes of a woman who has lost a child.
what a beautiful song for paul, may i ask what the name of the song is? i would like to put it on my babies site if that's ok.
paul would be so proud of you for keeping strong and for being so brave. you'll be with him when it's your time to go to heaven. you'll be reunited forever but till then paul will be your guardian angel and your shining light always protecting you like a brother should do.
all my love
